The impact of COVID-19 measures on children with disabilities and their families in Uganda

Summary: The COVID-19 public health response has had a negative impact on families of children with disabilities in Central Uganda. Lock-down measures have limited social life, education, and access to medical services, leading to economic difficulties and food insecurity. Greater attention to the needs of these families is suggested in mitigating and long-term responses.

Politicizing the Pandemic: A Schemata Analysis of COVID-19 News in Two Selected Newspapers

Analyzing the reports from The New York Times and Global Times, the article found that the news of COVID-19 has been used for political and ideological purposes. The article emphasizes the importance of not politicizing pandemics and urges people to work together to save lives and maintain peace.

Minority Stress and Mental Health: A Review of the Literature

The Minority Stress Model, published over 15 years ago, categorizes these stressors into external conditions and events, as well as internal psychological stressors. Research suggests that connection to sexual and gender minority communities can mitigate the effects of minority stress.

Factors influencing COVID-19 vaccination intention: The roles of vaccine knowledge, vaccine risk perception, and doctor-patient communication

Summary: This study aims to investigate the factors influencing COVID-19 vaccination intention in the United States. The results indicate that perceived susceptibility to vaccine side effects negatively affects vaccination intention, while perceived severity does not have a significant impact. Vaccine-related knowledge indirectly and positively influences vaccination intention by reducing perceived susceptibility. Doctor-patient communication strengthens the negative effect of vaccine knowledge on perceived susceptibility and severity.

Science-technology intermediary and innovation in China: Evidence from State Administration for Market Regulation, 2000-2019

Effects of digitalization on financialization: Empirical evidence from European countries

Summary: This study is the first empirical examination of the association between digital transformation and financial development. The results indicate that digitalization has positive influences on the development of financial markets and institutions, with digitalization in the business and public sector and individuals' digital skills playing crucial roles. However, digitalization in consumption may hinder financialization. Digital transformation in the business and public sector augments the depth and efficiency of financial markets, while digitalization in public sectors drives access to financial markets. E-commerce and e-government have long-term beneficial influences on financial markets and financial institutions, respectively.

Strategic or substantive innovation?-The impact of institutional investors' site visits on green innovation evidence from China

Transforming corporate social responsibilities: Toward an intellectual activist research agenda for micro-CSR research

Summary: The essay argues that micro-CSR research, as currently conducted, cannot fully realize its transformative potential and serve social justice. This limitation arises from its predominant focus on companies' own definitions and promotion of corporate social responsibility, thus sustaining the hegemony of the business case for CSR and maintaining managerial control. The authors propose that micro-CSR researchers broaden the scope of their research to explore alternative ideas and activities in organizational life, in order to unlock the potential for transformative change.

How WEIRD and Androcentric Is Sex Research? Global Inequities in Study Populations

Thriving at work but insomniac at home: Understanding the relationship between supervisor bottom-line mentality and employee functioning

Summary: Bottom-line mentality (BLM) is prevalent in most organizations today and affects employees' functioning at work and at home. This study finds that working with high BLM supervisors increases employee perceptions of a competitive climate, leading to increased thriving at work but also insomnia outside work. Employee trait competitiveness moderates the relationship between supervisor BLM and thriving at work, with competitive employees performing better under the competitive climate stimulated by high BLM supervisors.
