Welcoming Strangers: Protestant Churches' Involvement in Refugee Resettlement in the United States

Summary: This study examines the relationship between different congregational characteristics and churches' interests and involvement in refugee resettlement, using the data from the 2018-2019 National Congregations Study. The findings show that political conservatism, educational level, and participation in international humanitarian works are linked to churches' interests and discussions on refugee resettlement.

What doesn't kill me makes me stronger? Post-traumatic growth and the problem of suffering

Summary: This article argues that the Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG) literature does not provide evidence to support the claim that suffering promotes psychic integration and interpersonal closeness with God (or others). The arguments supporting this conclusion include problems within PTG research that question the strength and reliability of the findings, as well as the lack of support for Eleonore Stump's conclusions drawn from the PTG literature. The article also highlights the inappropriate application of this research, which can restrict the post-traumatic journeys of trauma survivors.

Why Care About Freedom and Agency?

According to Pratyabhijna Saivism, there are no praiseworthy or blameworthy individual agents, but free agency is a prerequisite for manifestation. Therefore, individuals are not the only entities with free agency, and worlds should be the proper unit of analysis in ethical theories.
