Platform Governance Design in Platform Ecosystems: Implications for Complementors' Multihoming Decision

Liang Chen, Jingtao Yi, Sali Li, Tony W. Tong

Summary: This study explores the multilateral interdependence among different groups of producers within a platform ecosystem, and suggests that platform owners' governance design may create tensions between platform providers and complementors. While open governance grants greater autonomy to platform providers, it also leads to a more complex ecosystem for complementors, reducing their willingness to move to a more complex ecosystem.

Summary: According to the Socially Embedded Model of Thriving, individuals thrive at work when they are in environments that support agentic behaviors. Existing scholarship lacks research reflecting these multilevel features and a strong theoretical justification for a multilevel conceptualization of thriving. Researchers aim to define a multilevel conceptualization of thriving at work through an integrative review.

Alexandra Lysova, Kenzie Hanson, Louise Dixon, Emily M. Douglas, Denise A. Hines, Elizabeth M. Celi

Summary: This qualitative study examined internal and external barriers to help seeking among men who reported being victimized by their female intimate partners in four English-speaking countries. Online focus groups were conducted, and six themes representing four internal barriers (lack of recognition, relationship preservation, male roles, and excuses) and two external barriers (fear and lack of support services) were identified. The findings suggest the importance of gender inclusive approaches to intimate partner abuse and the need for professional training for individuals and service providers.

The Hidden Dark Side of Empowering Leadership: The Moderating Role of Hindrance Stressors in Explaining When Empowering Employees Can Promote Moral Disengagement and Unethical Pro-Organizational Behavior

Tobias Dennerlein, Bradley L. Kirkman

Summary: The majority of research on empowering leadership has focused on the positive effects, but we shift the focus to the potential detriments. We propose that empowering leadership can unintentionally increase employees' unethical pro-organizational behavior by increasing moral disengagement. We find support for our predictions in both a time-lagged field study and a scenario-based experiment. Our findings highlight the impact of empowering leadership on unethical behavior and provide insights into when and why the dark side of this leadership behavior occurs.
