Friendly or competent? The effects of perception of robot appearance and service context on usage intention

Summary: The study reveals that customers/tourists' willingness to use service robots is influenced by the perception of robot appearance and service context. A warm appearance is preferred in hedonic service contexts, while a competent appearance is preferred in utilitarian service contexts, driven mainly by trust.

Two years of COVID-19 and tourism: what we learned, and what we should have learned

Summary: The COVID-19 crisis has had significant impacts on the global tourism industry and climate change. While the travel industry faces various challenges, it is uncertain whether lessons can be learned from the crisis and change the direction of development. By analyzing the case of crisis management in Germany, this study suggests that actions taken during the pandemic can provide insights on addressing global warming and avoiding a temperature increase beyond 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Impact of green human resource practices on hotel environmental performance: the moderating effect of environmental knowledge and individual green values

Summary: This study examines the impact of green human resources management (GHRM) practices on hotel environmental performance (HEP). The findings show that GHRM practices are positively correlated with employees' affective commitment and eco-friendly behavior. Rural tourism recovery between two COVID-19 waves: the case of Portugal

Summary: During the summer of 2020, most European countries lifted intra-national mobility restrictions, and domestic tourism partially offset the negative impacts of plunging international arrivals. In Portugal, there was a substantial increase in preference for tourism in rural areas, leading to a stronger and lasting recovery of domestic demand in regions best positioned to offer rural accommodation.

Peer-to-peer (P2P) accommodation in the sharing economy: a review

Summary: This paper provides a systematic review of 371 papers on P2P accommodation in the sharing economy between 2000 and 2019. The study shows that research on P2P accommodation is experiencing rapid growth, with Airbnb being the main focus. The provision of authentic experiences, environmental concerns, and socialization are important themes in P2P accommodation research, while trust and negative attitudes from established businesses and government are considered as the main barriers to P2P development.

Attitudes toward service robots: analyses of explicit and implicit attitudes based on anthropomorphism and construal level theory

Summary: This paper examines customers' explicit and implicit attitudes towards service robots with different levels of human-likeness. The findings reveal that highly realistic robots are met with negative attitudes, while robots with lower human-likeness generate more positive attitudes and are accepted similarly to human employees in hospitality settings. This key finding has important implications for the strategic introduction of robots in the hospitality industry.

Metabolic and performance responses of male runners wearing 3 types of footwear: Nike Vaporfly 4%, Saucony Endorphin racing flats, and their own shoes

Summary: This study compared the running economy and 3-km time-trial performance of runners wearing Nike Vaporfly 4% (VP4), Saucony Endorphin lightweight racing flats (FLAT), and their own running shoes (OWN). The results showed that VP4 improved running economy in male recreational runners at relative speeds compared to their own shoes, but the improvements were not significant compared to FLAT. Additionally, more runners achieved better time-trial performances on the treadmill in VP4 compared to FLAT and their own shoes.

A risk perception scale for travel to a crisis epicentre: visiting Wuhan after COVID-19
