Exploring Users' Behavioral Intention to Adopt Mobile Augmented Reality in Education through an Extended Technology Acceptance Model

Christos Papakostas, Christos Troussas, Akrivi Krouska, Cleo Sgouropoulou

Summary: Digitalization in education is crucial, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Augmented Reality (AR) has the potential to benefit education in various ways. Previous research has shown that AR can enhance student learning outcomes in subjects like astronomy, biology, geometry, and physics. However, there is limited exploration of the factors influencing the acceptance of AR technology in education. This article provides valuable insights for researchers, tutors, and AR application developers regarding learners' behavioral intention to use AR in the learning process. The study is based on a modified Technology Acceptance Model and finds that the intention to use AR is influenced by factors such as quality output, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and playfulness. These findings can help AR developers optimize the user experience when implementing AR technology in education.

Exoskeleton Application to Military Manual Handling Tasks

Jasmine K. Proud, Daniel T. H. Lai, Kurt L. Mudie, Greg L. Carstairs, Daniel C. Billing, Alessandro Garofolini, Rezaul K. Begg

Summary: This review aims to determine how exoskeletons can assist Australian Defence Force personnel with manual handling tasks. The findings suggest that exoskeletons mainly support squat/deadlift tasks through lower limb systems, with load carrying as the primary use case. Human-exoskeleton analysis is the most prevalent form of evaluation, with reported reductions in back muscle activation ranging from 15% to 54%. However, there are variations in exoskeleton evaluation procedures across studies, making comparisons difficult.

The Role of Privacy Cynicism in Consumer Habits with Voice Assistants: A Technology Acceptance Model Perspective

Fulya Acikgoz, Rodrigo Perez Vega

Summary: This study aims to understand the drivers of voice assistant usage habits by extending the Technology Acceptance Model and introducing the concept of privacy cynicism. The results suggest that ease of use and perceived usefulness positively impact attitudes towards voice assistant usage, while privacy cynicism has a negative effect. Interestingly, privacy cynicism also positively influences trust in using voice assistants, and attitudes alone do not fully explain consumers' usage habits.
