Summary: This study investigates the self-healing capability of a novel bio-based benzoxazine vitrimer composite laminate. The laminate is manufactured using compression resin transfer moulding, and three-point bending tests are conducted to assess interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) and induced damage. Interfacial damages are healed through pressure and temperature. The results show that the composite has highly efficient healing capability, with 80% of the ILSS restored after a 60-minute healing process.

Summary: This study reported a novel multi-scale surface modification strategy for carbon fiber (CFs) to enhance interfacial properties. By combining chemical oxidation treatment and in situ grafting of a high-strength polymer network, the interfacial bonding and mechanical strength of CFs were significantly improved. The strategy achieved high-efficiency mechanical enhancement and thermal conductivity improvement in polymer bonded explosives (PBX). The study has important implications for exploring novel surface modification and has the potential application in high-performance polymer composites.

Summary: In response to the global environmental pollution crisis caused by waste plastics, recyclable design is an effective solution. A CPVC/PUA nanocomposite foam was developed using the plasticizing-foaming-reinforcing strategy, combined with catalytic carbonization. The foam exhibited high expansion ratio, robustness, solvent resistance, flame-triggered shape memory effect, and ablation resistance. The foam could be directly upcycled into functional carbon foam with attractive electromagnetic interference shielding performance.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of liquid metal volume fraction on ink rheology in liquid metal elastomer composites (LMEC). The results show that the addition of liquid metal droplets increases crack resistance and thermal conductivity in soft elastomers. Furthermore, using direct ink writing (DIW) to print polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) exhibits significant anisotropy, which is reduced by the addition of liquid metal droplets. Additionally, the stretchability of DIW-ed LMEC decreases with increasing curing temperature and liquid metal droplet size.

Summary: The asymmetric market power between a firm and its partners negatively affects the firm's financial performance. Building relationships with suppliers or customers that have matched market power is the best approach. The strength of the buyer-supplier relationship amplifies the negative impact of asymmetric market power, while the level of relationship embeddedness reduces its negative effect. Moreover, firm-specific institutional, industry, and regional economic heterogeneities also influence the financial impact of asymmetric market power.

Summary: Micro-arc oxidation (MAO) treatment was used to modify aluminum (Al) alloys in order to improve bond strength with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP). The treatment successfully created a porous surface with better hardness, roughness, and wetting, and introduced resin pre-coating (RPC) and carbon nanotube (CNT) fiber bridging to improve the bonding interface. The combined treatments significantly increased the bond strength by up to 156.1%, indicating the feasibility of MAO as an alternative method for manufacturing high-performance Al-CFRP composites in industrial production.

Summary: Faster heating rates and higher process temperatures can reduce the total process time while achieving the same degree-of-cure. Thermal analysis shows that thermoplastic interleaf particles melt at the recommended curing temperature. A short dwell at a lower temperature can prevent the mixing of thermoplastic particles and thermoset pre-polymer.
