Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted classes in spring 2020 and led to a significant learning loss for students, particularly those with lower achievement. Remote learning environments presented challenges for teachers, and students had less time for learning. A study on fifth graders in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany revealed slightly lower competence scores in 2020 compared to previous years, especially in reading and mathematics. Low-achieving students in mathematics seem to have a learning backlog that requires attention in future education.

Summary: This study reviewed high-qualified scientific literature of sentiment analysis (SA) in education and discussed future research prospects. The results indicated that most studies focused on higher education with smaller datasets. SA was actively used in the learning domain of engineering and technology, with teachers/educators being the primary stakeholders. Hybrid approaches were predominant in SA research, and sentiment categories in education were refined. Four major research topics were identified, including designing SA methods/systems, investigating learners' satisfaction/attitude/concerned topics, evaluating teachers' teaching performance, and examining the relationship among sentiment, behavior, performance, and achievement. Several implications and research issues for SA in education research were provided.

Summary: Children's emotional adjustment during stressogenic events is highly influenced by their parents' emotional state. This study examined the relationship between young children's emotional adjustment during the COVID19 outbreak and their exposure to stress, as well as their parents' emotion regulation and playfulness. The findings showed that children frequently experienced symptoms such as nervousness, agitation, aggression, separation fears, and clinging. Parental difficulties in emotion regulation and the level of stress exposure were significantly associated with children's stress reactions. Parental emotion regulation fully mediated the relationship between stress exposure and children's stress reactions. Furthermore, fathers' playfulness was found to have an inverse relationship with children's stress reactions. These findings highlight the importance of parental emotion skills for children's emotional adjustment during stressful times.
