Summary: This study demonstrates that commonality analysis and hierarchical partitioning, which are widely used for estimating predictor importance and improving regression model interpretation, are related and complementary frameworks that can be expanded for the analysis of multiple-response models. The authors mathematically establish the links between these frameworks and generalize them to allow the analysis of any number of predictor variables or groups of predictor variables.

However, a lack of knowledge about suitable alternatives hampers progress. This study suggests using a language of evidence as a simpler and more intuitive alternative, which allows for a more nuanced approach in communicating scientific findings.

The impact of fintech innovation on green growth in China: Mediating effect of green finance

Summary: This paper investigates the impact of fintech and green finance on green growth from the perspective of fintech development. It constructs a comprehensive index to evaluate the green growth of regional economy and tests the impact and mechanism of fintech innovation and green finance on green growth using China's provincial panel data. The results show that fintech and green finance significantly promote green economic growth, with regional heterogeneity. Further research reveals that fintech innovation mainly promotes green economic growth through green credit and green investment.

Summary: This study examines the impact of political risk, globalization, and technological innovation on the ecological footprint in the BRICS economies. The findings suggest that economic growth, non-renewable energy usage, political risk, and technological innovation increase the ecological footprint, while globalization decreases it significantly. The study also confirms the bidirectional causal relationship between ecological footprint and the regressors of technological innovation, globalization, non-renewable energy, and economic growth, with a one-way causal connection from ecological footprint to political risk. The study highlights the importance of policymakers coordinating efforts to address the serious environmental deterioration in the BRICS economies.

Summary: Research in global change ecology often relies on global climatic grids, which may not accurately reflect temperature conditions below vegetation canopies and near the ground surface. This study provides global maps of soil temperature at different depths, highlighting the significant differences between soil and air temperature. These maps are valuable for ecological applications, but further improvement in spatiotemporal resolution is needed.

Summary: Publication bias poses a significant threat to the validity of quantitative evidence in meta-analyses, with some findings being overrepresented due to publication frequency or timing. Current methods to detect publication bias are inadequate for datasets with high heterogeneity and non-independence, common in ecology and evolutionary biology. A new multilevel meta-regression method is proposed to address these challenges and provide practical recommendations for researchers in the field.

Summary: Trophic interactions between inoculant Bacillus velezensis SQR9 and indigenous Pseudomonas stutzeri in the cucumber rhizosphere showed environmental dependency and involved synthesis of branched-chain amino acids. The synergistic interaction was only evident in nutrient-rich niches like pellicle biofilm. Furthermore, metabolic modeling and profiling demonstrated facilitation among the bacterial strains, promoting plant growth and alleviating salt stress.
