Prevalence of most common skin diseases in Europe: a population-based study

Summary: This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of the most frequent skin conditions in 27 European countries. The results showed that 43.35% of the participants reported having at least one dermatological condition in the previous 12 months. The most common conditions were fungal skin infections, acne, and atopic dermatitis or eczema.

Efficacy of brodalumab in the treatment of scalp and nail psoriasis: results from three phase 3 trials

Summary: The efficacy of brodalumab in treating nail or scalp psoriasis was evaluated in three phase 3 studies. The results showed that brodalumab led to scalp clearance within 12 weeks and improvements in nail psoriasis within 52 weeks.

COVID-19 and psoriasis: biologic treatment and challenges

Summary: This review suggests that patients with psoriasis on biologic treatment are not more susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection or experience a severe clinical course of COVID-19. Although there are limitations in some reports, the available evidence supports the continuation of biologic therapy for psoriasis in patients without COVID-19.

Summary: COVID-19-associated mucormycosis is rare in Germany, mostly reported in patients with comorbidities and impaired immune system who have severe COVID-19 and are treated in the ICU, with a high mortality rate. Compared to mainly rhino-orbito-cerebral CAM in patients with mild COVID-19 in India, the risk for CAM is higher in hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Summary: Generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) is a rare and potentially dangerous disease characterized by the appearance of large sterile pustules in widespread areas, with or without systemic inflammation and/or plaque psoriasis. The severity and frequency of flares vary among individuals, and severe flares are often accompanied by systemic symptoms and other extracutaneous manifestations. The clinical course of GPP is highly variable.

Management of inadequate response and adverse effects to dupilumab in atopic dermatitis

Summary: Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease, and dupilumab is the only approved systemic therapy for moderate-to-severe cases. Difamilast ointment in adult patients with atopic dermatitis: A phase 3 randomized, double-blind, vehicle-controlled trial
