Methodology for construction-standard-production-rate-based simulation modeling and production-rate data generation

Summary: Production-rate assessment is crucial for the success of a construction project, and the use of construction-standard-production-rate (CSPR) in South Korea is limited to individual equipment. This study aims to generate data on production-rates of different equipment combinations and test the feasibility of using such data for optimized fleet management and scheduling methods. The research uses discrete event simulation and regression analysis based on CSPR equations and information to achieve these goals.

Historical Development and Seismic Performance of Unreinforced Masonry Buildings with Vertical Extensions in the City Centre of Barcelona

Summary: This paper presents the historical development of vertical extensions in unreinforced masonry buildings in the Eixample district of Barcelona and their impact on seismic behavior. The study found that despite the low to moderate seismic hazard of Barcelona, the existing masonry buildings in Eixample pose significant seismic risk due to their average height and slender walls. Vertical extensions were a common solution to meet the increasing population demand, but they add structural irregularities that negatively affect seismic performance.

From blocks to cities: Morphology structure rooted in 3D patterns and forming clusters at the block level

Summary: This article proposes a 35D form index system for quantitatively describing the 3D form of urban blocks. Using cluster analysis, the visually complex and disordered urban 3D texture is translated into distinct form clusters, allowing for recognition of the overall urban form structure from the block perspective. The research conducted experiments in Nanjing and comparative analysis in Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Suzhou. Results demonstrate the effectiveness of form parameters and cluster analysis in achieving sound recognition. The number and distribution structure of clusters differ significantly among the four cities. Correlation analysis reveals a negative relationship between the number of cluster types and the level of urban socioeconomic development in similar areas. This research suggests that neighborhood morphological types can be utilized by governments and urban planners to devise customized spatial management and renewal strategies, thereby improving the overall urban structure by strategically minimizing the quantity and distribution of neighborhood morphological types.

Impacts of corridor design: An investigation on occupant perception of corridor forms in elderly facilities

Summary: The study investigates the issue of monotonous and lengthy corridors in Chinese elderly facilities and aims to evaluate the influence of different spatial forms on the emotions of the elderly. The findings suggest that arc corridors are associated with higher satisfaction, while folded corridors are associated with the lowest satisfaction. The study establishes a correlation between spatial form and occupant perception, indicating that moderate spatial variations contribute to a better experience for the elderly.

Spatial Analysis of Accessibility to Urban Green Spaces in Northern Neighbourhoods of Riyadh

Summary: Access to green spaces in urban areas is important for improving health conditions and enhancing well-being, public health, and environmental justice. This study uses GIS technology to assess the accessibility of green spaces in the new residential neighborhoods north of Riyadh city. The results show that 28% of the study area within 700 meters has accessibility based on spatial analysis, and only 9.8% has access when using network analysis. The study recommends increasing urban green spaces in neighborhoods that lack it to improve accessibility.
