Summary: Vibration energy harvesting is a new method for supplying sustainable energy to low powered sensor networks and electronic devices. Multiple vibration energy harvesters using different energy conversion mechanisms have been designed and tested. The challenge lies in the response to input excitation characteristics, which can be addressed through multistable characteristics commonly found in mathematical models and physical devices. The focus on multistable vibration energy harvesters is mainly due to their nonlinear dynamic characteristics that improve the efficiency of vibration energy harvesting.

Summary: In this paper, an ultra-highly sensitive light-induced thermoelastic spectroscopy (LITES) based HCl sensor using a custom low-frequency QTF and a fiber-coupled MPC was demonstrated. The results showed that the low-frequency QTF provided improved signal enhancement compared to a standard QTF, and the fiber-coupled MPC enhanced system robustness. The sensor exhibited an excellent linear response to HCl gas concentration.

Summary: This study examined the hybrid oscillator HRVD with a cubic-quintic nonlinear term and an external excited force. Different mathematical techniques were used to study the stability and control methods of the oscillator, with NIPPF controller found to be the most effective. Through numerical and graphical analysis, the impact of the controller at the primary resonance case was discussed.

Summary: This study introduces a new feature extraction method for underwater acoustic signal processing, called slope entropy (SloE). Combined with the variational mode decomposition algorithm, the proposed method analyzes and recognizes ship-radiated noise signals based on the extraction of SloE. The experimental results demonstrate that the feature extraction method based on SloE achieves a higher recognition rate.

Summary: Although U-Net has been successful in medical image segmentation, it lacks the ability to model long-range dependencies. Vision Transformers have emerged as an alternative structure for their ability to capture long-range correlations through Self-Attention (SA), but they require large-scale pre-training and have high computational complexity. To address these issues, we propose a Mixed Transformer Module (MTM) that learns inter- and intra-affinities simultaneously. MTM efficiently calculates self-affinities using our Local-Global Gaussian-Weighted Self-Attention (LGG-SA) and mines inter-connections between data samples using External Attention (EA). We construct a U-shaped model called Mixed Transformer U-Net (MT-UNet) for accurate medical image segmentation using MTM. Experimental results on two public datasets demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms other state-of-the-art methods.

Summary: A highly sensitive hydrogen fluoride (HF) sensor based on light-induced thermoelastic spectroscopy (LITES) technique is reported in this study. The sensor utilizes a simple structure and a robust shallow neural network (SNN) fitting algorithm for denoising the spectroscopy data. The system stability is demonstrated through Allan variance analysis and a low minimum detection limit (MDL) is achieved.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the need for better-defined Morphological Uterus Sonographic Assessment (MUSA) features of adenomyosis and to reach consensus on updated definitions through a Delphi procedure. The experts identified a need for more detailed definitions of some MUSA features and recommended the use of 3D ultrasound for optimal visualization. Consensus was achieved on the revised definitions and classification of MUSA features as direct or indirect signs of adenomyosis.

Summary: Most existing datasets for sound event recognition (SER) are relatively small and/or domain-specific. AudioSet, which is based on over 2 M tracks from YouTube videos, is not an open dataset. To address this issue, researchers introduce FSD50K, an open dataset containing over 51k audio clips manually labeled using 200 classes from the AudioSet Ontology. The dataset is freely distributable and detailed descriptions and analysis are provided. Baseline systems and insights on data splitting for SER are also presented.
