An experimental method has been developed to address the challenges associated with the measurement of full field-strain maps at elevated temperatures using Digital Image Correlation (DIC). The experimental setup will be presented and results of measurements on ceramic matrix composites at very high temperatures will be shown. Artificial speckle pattern techniques at very high temperatures are usually prone to spalling and therefore only suitable for short duration testing. A new speckle technique has been developed and tested for strain measurements at room and elevated temperatures up to 1300 A degrees C.
