A diversity-oriented approach comprising an Ugi 4-component reaction and a copper-catalyzed tandem azide-alkyne cycloaddition/Ullmann C-N coupling is elaborated. The methodology is compatible with various functional groups and allows the construction of triazolo[1,5-a][1,4]benzodiazepinones in good yields.
