Diseases that may benefit from manipulating the Th17 pathway

The discovery of 11,47 and of the Th17 pathway has been a step in the classification of human diseases. Th17 targeting appears rather straightforward in diseases associated with inflammation and matrix destruction, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and Crohn's disease. In other conditions where IL-17 is expressed and Th17 activated, it is unclear whether this is a primary or secondary event, making the use of Th17 inhibitors less obvious.
