A non-enzymatic photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensing platform for hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) detection based on highly conductive TiC/C core-shell nanofiber electrode decorated with WO3 nanowhiskers (WO3@TiC/C) is described. The electrode exhibits excellent visible-light induced photoelectrochemical activity as well as hydrophilic properties. Good photoelectrochemical (EC) biosensing properties with a H2O2 detection limit of 3 x 10(-9) M (S/N = 3) and sensitivity of 386 mu A mM(-1) cm(-2) are achieved. The stability, selectivity and anti-interference performance toward common inorganic salts and organic acids are also investigated and the results provide insights to non-enzymatic PEC H2O2 sensing.
