A covalent modification of the glassy carbon electrode with AuNPs via Cu(I) catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition between azide and terminal alkyne (click reaction) has been described. Alkyne modified AuNPs have been immobilized on azide modified glassy carbon electrode by in situ Cu(I) generation for the first time. The new electrode has been successfully applied for NO2- electrooxidation in the presence of SO32-. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
