We developed a novel graphene-modified carbon fiber microelectrode (GCFME) to determine dopamine in mice hippocampus tissue. The electrochemical behavior of GCFME is characterized by potassium ferricyanide, dopamine (DA), ascorbic acid (AA) and uric acid (UA) by cyclic voltammetry (CV). Graphene makes a favorable electron transfer process for the oxidation of DA, AA, UA, and provides well-resolved oxidative peaks of the three. The microsensor for DA shows good sensitivity and selectivity, with a linear range from 1.0 x 10(-8) M to 1.0 x 10(-4) M and a detection limit of 1.0 x 10(-8) M. This graphene-based microelectrode successfully monitored the release of dopamine in vitro.
