A series of dipolar quinoxaline derivatives with quinoxaline as core which carry pendant carbazole or triphenylamine moieties were synthesized and fully characterized. As expected, the compounds display bipolar character and can be explored as potential emissive and electron-trans port materials as organic light-emitting diodes. Fluorescence spectra showed that the compounds exhibit excellent blue-green fluorescence. (C) 2009 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
