Due to rapid industrial growth and increase in population in developing countries, people of such places are facing severe water scarcity. They are also suffering from many water borne diseases, because of the unavailability of treated drinking water. Industries too face lot of problems to properly dispose the effluents. In this work, an attempt is made to solve the problems associated with effluent disposal and water scarcity in industrial areas. The effluent and desalinated water samples are tested at Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) board. It is found that, the minerals present in the desalinated water sample are very low. As per the guidelines given by the PATAD board some minerals are added to make the water potable. The cost of the minerals to be added per liter of water is found to be 28 paise ($0.0056).
