An exploration of the Cu(I)-L system under hydrothermal conditions, has led to the isolation of a novel framework [Cu(I)(L)](n)(1) (L = bis(3,3-dimethyl-4,4-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)methane). Single-crystal X-ray analysis reveals that it crystallizes in the monoclinic, space group C2/c, a = 19.781(4) angstrom, b =11.026(3) angstrom, c 16.339(4) angstrom, P = 127.186(3)degrees. The Cu ions are linked into an extended rainbow-like chain via L molecules. Further, these adjacent chains are united together through hydrogen-bonded interaction to a 2D layer.
