In this review, we describe the chemistry of seleno- (CSe) and tellurocarbonyl (CTe) complexes, which are heavy congeners of carbonyl (CO) complexes. The survey focuses mainly on recent developments made in this area of chemistry in the past 10 years. CSe and CTe complexes reported before 2000 are also reviewed. Metal thiocarbonyls (CS), which have been known for about 40 years. are not discussed in this account because of the existence of excellent up-to-date reviews of this area. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V.
