Acid-catalyzed Ring-opening Polymerization of γ-Butyrolactone under High-pressure Conditions

In this study, we found that acid-catalyzed ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of gamma-butyrolactone, which showed difficulty progressing in general ROP, took place under high-pressure conditions. The structure of the product was confirmed by the H-1 NMR spectrum to be poly(gamma-butyrolactone). Furthermore, the M-n values increased with increasing monomer conversions.
