Surface functionalization of highly bioresorbable biomaterials has been a challenging subject. The objective of our research is to establish a calcium phosphate (CaP) coating technique on a bioresorbable bone substitute material: hydroxyapatite and collagen nanocomposite for surface functionalization using supersaturated solutions. A coating technique using a metastable supersaturated solution could not be applied on the nanocomposite. In contrast, CaP coating was successfully prepared on the nanocomposite by using labile supersaturated solutions when the solution concentration was adjusted to a certain range.
