Luminol-functionalized chemically reduced graphene oxide (RGO) was successfully formulated through simple noncovalent interation between luminol and RGO. Stability of RGO/luminol assembly and FT-IR study support that luminol molecules are strongly anchoring on RGO surface through pi-pi interaciton. Raman, AFM, and SEM studies confirm that the chemical reduction to RGO is successful and the exfoliation into individual RGO sheets is effective through this noncovalent approach using luminol. Interestingly, the chemiluminescence (CL) of luminol was completely quenched in RGO/luminol assembly, confirming that RGO platform is acceptable for not only fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) but also chemiluminescence resonance energy transfer (CRET) in this study.
