The utilization of commercially available gel anion exchange resins, namely weakly basic Amberlite IRA-67 and strongly basic Amberlite IRA-458 was successfully carried out to remove synthetic textile dye Acid Orange 7 by adsorption from aqueous solutions. The effects of phase contact time, initial dye concentration, initial solution pH, temperature and presence of inorganic salts and surfactants were studied in the batch system. The quaternary ammonium resin Amberlite IRA-458 containing polar groups with very favourable profile was especially effective: the sorption of the dye remained almost unchanged in the examined pH range (1-12): inorganic salts (NasSO4, NaH2PO4, Na2HPO4) and surfactants (SDS, CTAB, Triton X-100) presence had only limited effect on the dye removal; the maximum sorption capacities determined from the parameters of Langmuir isotherms ranged from 1211.3 to 1368 mg/g at different temperatures (298-318 K).
