Using ancillary ligands to tune the DNA binding properties of self-assembled luminescent metallomacrocycles

The optical response, binding parameters, and duplex DNA binding mode of water-soluble kinetically inert tetranuclear metallomacro-cycles can all be controlled by judicious selection of ancillary ligands.
