Efficient synthesis of [18F] trifluoromethane and its application in the synthesis of PET tracers

A new strategy towards [F-18]trifluoromethyl-containing compounds is developed. [F-18] trifluoromethane is synthesised in a fast and efficient manner and subsequently used in the reaction with aldehydes and ketones forming [F-18] trifluoromethyl carbinols in good yields.
