g-Aluminium oxide (gamma-Al2O3) mesoporous nanoflakes, showing interesting optical properties, have been successfully synthesized via a one-step ionothermal synthetic method under mild conditions using an ionic liquid [bdmim][Cl] as multifunctional material in terms of solvent and template.
