Superparamagnetic submicro-megranates: Fe3O4 nanoparticles coated with highly cross-linked organic/inorganic hybrids

A superparamagnetic pomegranate-like core@shell structure with Fe3O4@SiO2 nanoparticles as cores and cross-linked PZS as shells was fabricated. The Fe3O4@SiO2@PZS hybrid composite shows exellent solvent resistance and water dispersion, allowing potentially great biocompatibility and possible tailored surface chemistry for applications in biotechnology.
