Chemical composition of Albanian sage oil (Salvia officinalis L.)

The chemical composition of the essential oils from Albanian wild growing sage was examined by GC/MS. Over 40 compounds were detected in the oils, from which about 30 could be identified. The main components identified were alpha-thujone (12.2-49.3%), beta-thujone (3.1-10.5%) camphor (13.7-37.8%) and 1,8-cineole (3.9-23.4).
