Systemic retinoid therapy

Systemic retinoids are widely used in dermatology. They are among the most effective drugs available for several severe dermatoses. This article reviews the systemic retinoids, with particular reference to their use in dermatology. The history of their development and use, relevant compounds, their indications and toxicities, and how they are used in the management of severe skin disorders are explained and discussed.
