A well defined tin(II) initiator for the living polymerisation of lactide

[HC{C(Me)NAr}(2)]Sn(OPri) (Ar = 2,6-(Pr2C6H3)-C-i) is shown to be an initiator for the living polymerisation of rac-lactide to heterotactic-enriched poly(lactide).
