Magnetic, electrical and thermodynamic properties of CePd5Ge3

The intermetallic compound CePd5Ge3 has been studied by means of magnetisation, magnetic susceptibility, electrical resistivity and specific heat measurements. The results indicate the presence of stable Ce3+ ions, but nevertheless the compound does not order magnetically down to 2 K. However, some hints on magnetic ordering below 2 K may be deduced from anomalous low temperature behaviour of the magnetisation, resistivity and specific heat. The properties of CePd5Ge3 are discussed in terms of possible Kondo interactions. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
