Problematic C-14-AMS dates of pollen concentrates from Lake Gosciaz (Poland)

Pollen concentrates and macrofossils of mid-Holocene age from the annually laminated sediments of Lake Gosciaz (Poland) are dated by C-14 AMS. Dating the sediment by matching to the radiocarbon calibration curve is possible for the macrofossils. The C-14 ages of the pollen concentrates, however, do not support the varve chronology, probably due to an as yet not fully explained reservoir effect. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd and INQUA.
