A simple and efficient preparation of (arylphosphinyl)methylphosphonates is described whereby the phosphinylmethylphosphonate group is introduced via the Pd(0) mediated phosphinylation of an aryl halide or triflate with diethyl (ethoxyphosphinyl)methylphosphonate.
