Cathelicidins: microbicidal activity, mechanisms of action, and roles in innate immunity

Antimicrobial peptides are important host-defense molecules of innate immunity. Cathelicidins are a diverse family of potent, rapidly acting and broadly effective antimicrobial peptides, which are produced by a variety of cells.
