Thermal capacity of heterogeneous nanosystems with large 'liquid-solid' interfaces is defined by sum of mass and surface phase thermal capacities. Due to the negative value of surface phase thermal capacity the interface area extension can cause total heterogeneous nanosystems thermal capacity decreasing. The theory and the practice of that phenomenon are suggested for discussion in this article. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
