A reconstruction of the Antarctic Ice Sheet at the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), constrained by geologic data, shows expansion across continental shelves accompanied by little inland change. This added peripheral ice volume contributed 14m to the lowering of eustatic sea level at the LGM. Of the total expansion, one-third took place in East Antarctica and two-thirds in West Antarctica.
