The laminin receptor Integrin alpha 6 beta 1 anchors adult neural stem cells to the niche vasculature. In this issue of Cell Stem Cell, Lathia et al. (2010) show that glioblastoma stem cells highly express integrin alpha 6 and that their interaction with laminin on endothelial cells directly regulates their tumorigenic capacity.
