Oral psoriasis is rare but may present with migratory stomatitis or geographic tongue. The latter is seen more frequently with generalized pustular psoriasis. An intraepidermal neutrophilic pustule is the characteristic histologic feature of these oral psoriatic lesions. The lesions both clinically and histologically are not, however, specific to oral psoriasis and can be seen in other dermatologic conditions. Most lesions of oral psoriasis are asymptomatic, and treatment is not necessary. Typically, the course of the oral lesions follows that of the cutaneous disease. Oral involvement is rare, so clinicians should be diligent in examining for oral lesions in their patients with psoriasis.
