We address the question of pattern formation for equations perturbed by additive noise. To be more precise, we consider an equation of Swift-Hohenberg type, which is a simplified model describing fluids at the convective instability. These equations are considered below criticality, and are therefore stable in the absence of noise. Nevertheless, the stochastic perturbation is strong enough to drive the solution with high probability into regions where pattern of a characteristic wavelength axe observed.
