Spondyloarthropathies: ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis

This article reviews the epidemiology and pathophysiology of ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis, two of the most common spondyloarthropathies. Emphasis is placed on recent advances in the pathophysiology of ankylosing spondylitis and their relation to new therapies. Primary imaging findings of ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis are reviewed, as well as how the recent advances in treatment may affect imaging of the spondyloarthropathies.
