The CuO/CeO2 catalysts supported on hierarchically porous silica were prepared by sol-gel and multi-hydrothermal processes. The samples were characterized by TG-DTA, N-2 adsorption-desorption, SEM, XPS and XRD. The hierarchically porous silica supported with CuO and CeO2 still retained mesoporous and through-macroporous structure. The catalysts showed much better catalytic activity than the CuO/HPS, CeO2/HPS and CuO/CeO2 for CO and o-DCB oxidation, and the HPS-4 was more satisfying, with the 100% conversion of CO at 110 degrees C and 98.8% conversion of o-DCB at 500 degrees C.
