The steam reforming of ethanol was performed over Co and Ni catalysts supported on perovskite-type oxides (LaAlO3, SrTiO3 and BaTiO3). Co and Ni catalysts supported on LaAlO3 and SrTiO3 showed high catalytic activities and long-term stabilities and suppressed coke formation while Co/BaTiO3 showed lower catalytic activities and poorer coking resistance. The average particle size of Co oil BaTiO3 was larger than that on SrTiO3. Lattice oxygen in perovskites may play positive roles in hindering coking and Co/SrTiO3 has more frequent participation of lattice oxygen in the oxidation of intermediates or precursor of coke in comparison with Co/BaTiO3.
