In the present work the approximate model for the single reaction with a non-linear kinetic equation is utilized for the calculation of an effectiveness factor value. The values obtained were compared with those obtained by numerical solution of the exact model and by using approximate methods reported in the literature. The accuracy of calculations of effectiveness factor values using the approximate model is good and the method handles the multiple steady-state region. (C) 2003 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
