Free vibration analysis of arbitrarily laminated plate with all four edges clamped is performed by using Galerkin method. Transverse shear effects are taken into consideration. Convergence characteristics of the Galerkin solution for arbitrarily laminated plates are investigated. Comparisons of the present results with those published in the literature are made for various cases with very good agreements. Some typical numerical results are given for cross-ply, angle-ply and arbitrarily laminated plate with various thickness ratios ranging from moderately thick to thin. (C) 2003 Elsevier Ltd.
