The synthesis and magnetic behavior of four new dinuclear iron(II) complexes Fe(2)2a-d x 4Py with the iron in an octahedral coordination sphere is presented in this paper. The complex c is a high-spin complex over the whole temperature range investigated, while the complexes a,b, and d perform a partial low-spin double left right arrow high-spin spin transition. In case of Fe(2)2b x 4Py, X-ray structure analysis of the HS/LS state was possible, showing that in one molecule both iron centers are either in the low-spin or sin the high-spin state.
