Direct synthesis of carbon nanofibers on modified biomass-derived activated carbon

Carbon nanofibers were synthesized on activated carbons produced from agricultural waste using chemical vapor deposition. Importantly, iron already present in the ash content of the activated carbon was employed as a natural catalyst for nanofiber formation.
