The Jurassic of southern Germany in the Stratigraphic Table of Germany 2002.

The formations of the Jurassic in southern Germany, are briefly characterized with exception of the Alps and of some smaller regions. The present names are derived from traditional names for reasons of continuity and acceptance but adjusted to modern usage. The Greek letters used by QUENSTEDT for his lithostratigraphic units are abandoned because of their variable usage in the literature. For some lithostratigraphical units new names are proposed.
