An optical fiber temperature sensor based on spectrum measurement

Temperature is an important parameter in many fields. High temperature measurement accuracy is difficult to achieve if using the conventional temperature measurement methods in the fields such as electromagnetism microwave and high voltage elector equipment. A novel temperature measurement system, which is based on the semiconductor absorption theory and the method of spectral analysis, is presented. The sensor detects the wavelengths of the optical absorption edge to measure temperature. It does not detect certain narrow band of spectrum as done in the conventional semiconductor absorption methods. Therefore the measurement accuracy and stability can be improved significantly. Experimental results are in good agreement with the theoretical analysis results.
